Unit Overview: Students learned about how to create a landscape using fg, mg, and bg in order to paint watercolor haunted landscapes.
Unit Overview: Students created a benday dot portrait using marker and colored pencil in order to demonstrate pop art technique in the style of Andy Warhol and display personal identity.
Unit Overview: Students created cards for mother's day using various technique, method, and personal ideas. Students were shown different types of cards and made personal decisions based on their perspective.
Unit Overview: Students learned about the paper art of paper quilling. Students reviewed the history of paper quilling and learned 7 techniques/methods of paper quilling. Students created a spring themed composition using at least 4 of the 7 techniques learned.
Unit Overview: Students will learned about the traditions and uses for Mandalas. Students learned about Tibetan sand mandalas by watching a film. Students created their own personal mandala using radial balance, mathematical skills, and symmetry.
This project was used during the week before spring break. It was a great filler lessons for the upper half of elementary. I also did it with the younger age groups, but it took them more time to understand and grasp the concepts needed to create a 3-D paper sculpture.
Unit Overview: Students learned about ceramic techniques by creating a personalized ceramic pencil holder. Students utilized pinch pot, score and slip, and sgraffito techniques.
Unit Overview: Students learned about atmospheric, one-point perspective by creating a landscape that shows foreground, middleground, and background. Students discussed how objects "grow smaller" in size as they get closer to the vanishing point, how objects fade in color as they get closer to the background, and how the horizon line divides the sky and the ground.
Unit Overview: Students learned about the ceramic handbuilding technique of coil pots in order to create a coil pot of their own. Students learned how to score and slip, coil, widen, narrow, and build up on their coil pots.
