Unit Overview: Students created diy sketchbooks with paper/pencil/drawing materials in order to prepare a book for practice drawings and other assorted art preparation. Welcome back to school!
It's tenure year! Time to pull out all the stops and make this year shine! This year, I began with students creating sketchbooks. Sketchbooks are a perfect way for students to prepare for future art projects. We use sketchbooks to practice design technique, drawings, and preparation for art projects. They are also great to get to know students' names (it's easy to forget 600 names during the summer). So, here are examples of our sketchbooks. We used newsprint for the interior pages and standard drawing paper for the exterior. Students were graded on technical aspects rather than artistic aspect. Their grade was determined by whether they put their name (first and last) and class code on the sketchbook.
